EXTENSION TRAINING CENTRE, Srikalahasti

The Extension Training Centre is located on Puthalapattu – Naidupet High way and it connects National High Way -5 ( CHENNAI TO KOLKATTA via Guntur-Vijayawada-Rajahmundry-Visakhapatnam)at 28 kms. And Sri Kalahasti Railway station is connecting with Gudur Junction to meet Northern, Konkan Eastern Railway junctions and Renigunta Junction to meet Southern Railway junctions so that from Sri Kalahasti the Train Transport through out India can be found as convenient.

The Extension Training Centre is located at a distance of 26 km to the National Air Port at Tirupathi and at a distance of 109 km to the International Air port at Chennai. Hence it is very convenient to travel by air for National and International travelling .

History , sriKalahasti

Srikalahasti is one of the most famous pilgrim centres in India. It has its own historical and mythological back ground. It is the abode of Lord Eswara and Goddess Gnana Prasoonambika. In this holy town the Extension Training Centre was established in 01-08-1955 as “Basic Agriculture School” to impart training to the Village Level Workers in Agriculture and allied subjects. It was converted into “Gramsevak’s Training Centre” with effect from 1-10-1958, to impart training to the Village Level Workers for a period of two years. The Gramsevak’s Training Centre was renamed as “Village Development Officers Training Centre” from June, 1972 to impart training to the Village Development Officers. This institute’s name was again changed as “Extension training Centre” from 07-08-2002. It is one of the oldest institutes in the State under the administrative control of Andhra Pradesh Institute of Rural Development (APSIRD), Vijayawada . It comes under the Department of PR & RD.

Being the Regional training Centre of APSIRD for the four Rayalaseema districts, the Extension Training Centre supports the PR&RD functionaries and PRI Elected representatives by providing capacity building through various training programmes to meet the objectives of local self governance for sustainable rural prosperity and social Justice. In addition to that the ETC is conducting RD trainings like ’30 days Training on Social accountability and Social Audit ‘ 90 days Induction Training to Bare Foot Technicians’ as well as various trainings under “ Swachbharat” under the instructions of the APSIRD.

The Extension Training Centre will also provide logistics for conducting other departmental trainings (Revenue , Survey and APHRDI trainings etc.,) according to cost norms as prescribed by APSIRD
