EXTENSION TRAINING CENTRE, SAMALKOT
The Extension Training Centre, Samalkot is an oldest training institute in the state and is one of the five regional training institutions which works under the administrative control of the Commissioner, APSIRD.
It celebrated its Golden Jubilee on 2-10-2002.
This training centre is imparting training on capacity building to PR&RD functionaries with special focus on Elected Representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions covering five districts viz. Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari.
BACK GROUND OF ETC, SMALKOT
Extension Training Centre, Samalkot was established in 1952 as a BASIC AGRICULTURAL SCHOOL.
It was transformed as GRAM SEVAK CENTRE in 1958 to impart training to Village Level Workers in Agriculture and its allied subjects both for Men and Women covering 11 Districts from Srikakulam to Chittoor.
It was renamed as V.D.O. Training Centre from 1972 for imparting trainings to Village Development Officers.
At present this institution has been named as Extension Training Centre, Samalkot since 7-8-2002.
Upto 1982, the Training Centre was under the administrative control of Community Development and P.R. Departments respectively and Deputy Director Cadre Officers from Agriculture Department, were posted as Principals.
Upto 1999, this Training Centre was under the Administration Control of Commissioner PR & RD, Hyderabad.
From December, 1999 onwards, the institution came under the Administrative and financial control of Commissioner, AMR-APARD, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad.
ETC is located in a sprawling campus with serene rural surrounding of Samalkot 15 km way from the port city Kakinada. Railway and Bus stations are 1.5 km from this centre. It is surrounded by V.B.R.I (Veterinary Biological Research Institute) and T.T.D.C. (Training and Technology Development Centre).
SOURCES OF ETC
This centre receives recurring and non-recurring grants from both state and central governments under plan and non-plan heads.
As per the directions issued by AMR-APARD, the ETC is imparting trainings to both in-campus and off-campus trainings covering 5 districts.
